Other Sections

At 1st Findon Valley Scout Group we have a Beaver Colony, a Cub Pack and a Sea Scout Troup. However there are also other sections of scouting, Explorers, Network and Active Support. Details about these other sections and how to get involved can be found below.

Explorers

Explores is the fourth section of Scouting and is for young people aged 14 – 18. Explorers are encouraged to lead themselves in deciding the programme and direction of the Unit, with support from the section leaders. There is wider scope for activities like offshore sailing, campaigning, parascending, mountaineering in this section.

Network

Network is the fifth final section of Scouting for people age 18 – 25. Network members take part in a variety of activities, which they undertake and organise themselves with support of the Network Leader. An example of activities include abseiling, camping, circus skills, go-karting, gorge walking, hiking and watersports.

Active Support

Scout Active Support is for anyone over the age of 18. It is a way for adults to volunteer time to Scouting in a flexible way that suits them. There is no requirement to have been involved in Scouting before joining. A District Scout Active Support Unit can be a source of extra adult help, and a County Scout Active Support Group can provide support to Explorer Scouts when planning international expeditions.
